Bikas Udhyami launches The ‘Udhyami Nepal’ Portal

28 Feb, 2018 - Bikas Udhyami today launched the Udhyami Nepal portal in partnership with of the Government of Nepal’s National Youth Council. Udhyami Nepal is an online portal that provides aspiring and existing entrepreneurs with business information, and connects skilled workers to persons seeking services. The launch program was attended by Chief Guest Madhav Dhungel, Vice- Chairmen of National Youth Council.

The www.udhyaminepal.com portal aims to help people to become a successful entrepreneur by providing the information they need to start, manage or grow their business. The platform provides its users as well as its followers on social media across Nepal with relevant, high quality information in easy to understand Nepali regarding various aspects of the business process including business plan development, rules and regulations, management, financing etc. thereby serving as a one-stop business guide. In addition, the platform aims to increase employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed skilled workers such as electricians, plumbers and gardeners by connecting them directly to home service seekers in Kathmandu Valley and vice-versa. For this, Bikas Udhyami had a MoU with Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), National Skills Testing Board (NSTB). Through the platform, users can also connect to skills development opportunities including those of the Training Division, Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

On the occasion, Bikas Udhyami also published an e-book titled ‘Social Entrepreneurship in Nepal: Stories of Young Entrepreneurs Changing the Way Business is Done. Through these stories, Bikas Udhyami hopes to inspire others, especially young Nepali, to follow in their footsteps and explore social entrepreneurship in order to contribute to Nepal’s development in innovative ways. The e-book was launched as part of a student interaction program and featured a panel discussion in which various of the social entrepreneurs shared their experiences. This was followed by a discussion on what needs to be done to create a favorable environment for social entrepreneurs. A total of 60 students from different colleges around Kathmandu Valley were present for the student interaction program.

Bikas Udhyami is a social business led by young Nepali professionals from different backgrounds who share an entrepreneurial spirit when it comes to seeking ways to do development differently. Collectively it brings together expertise on a wide range of issues to identify and implement innovative solutions to address Nepal’s development challenges. Its vision is a Nepal in which young Nepali are actively engaged in shaping the development discourse through the identification of innovative and smart solutions to existing and emerging challenges in order to achieve positive change.
